A Surf Lodge Love Story

Matt and Sam met at Surf Lodge in a way that feels very on brand for both of them. Matt was being loud, and Sam, never one to shy away from a moment, started yelling at him. Matt immediately liked the way she yelled. He turned to his friends, confidently announced that he had this, and struck up a conversation. Not long after, Sam gave Matt her number.

Matt followed up quickly, and their first drinks together came with an early confession. After the second round, Matt admitted he had lied about his age to be older just to get the date. Sam was impressed by the creativity and liked him enough to forgive the bold move.

After a few months of back and forth, they made it official and have not looked back since. Now living together in New York City, they have learned to love each other’s favorite things. Sundays are spent watching the Minnesota Vikings, usually with optimism, sometimes with heartbreak. Taylor Swift is constantly playing in the apartment and, more recently, in Matt’s headphones as well. Between everyday routines, travel, and a beachside proposal in Miami, they are excited to celebrate the next chapter by getting married in New York City at Guastavino’s.
